1. Printing Software Installation and Configuration

1.1 BarTender Software Installation

I. BarTender Label Software Installation

1. Install BarTender software.

II. BarTender Label Editing Software Installation and Usage

1. Open BarTender, create a new template or open an existing template.


2. Click Print and select a printer. If there is no physical printer, you can select PDF file printing and set the file printing path to view the printing result.

 

3. Create a new path and put the template file into the specified folder.


1.2 Zebra Software Installation (Currently only supports TCP/IP)

I. Zebra Label Software Installation

1. Driver Download: https://www.zebra.com/cn/zh/support-downloads/printers.html

Driver Software Path: zd86526125-certified.exe (Please refer to the printer model for specific driver address)


Note: Prerequisite is that the printer IP and other configurations are set up in advance, and the printer can connect to the network.

II. Zebra Label Editing Software Installation and Usage

1. Method to generate PRN file (Case: 889A Label.nlbl)


Step 1:


2. Check "Print to file" on the print page to generate a .prn file.


3. Copy the content in the red box. ZPL commands start with XA and end with XZ.

4. Replace fixed values in the command with system variables, e.g., {Barcode}.

III. Control Panel Printer Properties


Control Panel → Devices and Printers → Find the corresponding printer → Right-click and select "Printer Properties" (Do not select "Properties") → Enter Port Configuration → Select "Print to File".

Returning to the template tool and clicking print will generate a .prn file, which contains ZPL commands that can be copied to a .txt document.

1.3 FastReport Label Editing Software Installation and Usage

I. FastReport Software Installation

FastReport.Net is a reporting solution for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, and MVC. It can be used in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005–2019 and supports .NET Framework 2.0–4.x and .NET Core.

Taking FastReport.Net V2014.4.8 For .Net4.0 as an example, open the compressed package as shown below:

II. General Usage Steps

1. Open Designer.exe to design the report style.
2. Bind data source fields.
3. Write code to query the data source and call the print method.

Notes:

• TableDataSource behavior has a fixed format, and dictionary items can be added in Column.
• The Community Edition has limited QR code support. Please use the fixed field QRCodeImage for printing QR codes.

2. LMES Plugin Installation

2.1 Install LMES Plugin Supporting Label Printing


Configure the label printing function in the system project. To ensure normal use, function templates such as Work Order Management, Product Management, Process Management, Label Management, Barcode Management, Flow Management, Formula Management, and System Settings are mandatory.

 

2.2 Label Management Function Configuration

1. Open CMS → System Settings → Printer Settings: Fill in the Printer Name (consistent with label software), Printer IP (fill in 127.0.0.1 for local machine), Template Path (refer to point 3), and click "Update Configuration" to save.


2. Printer Connection Test: Click the "Test" button, prompting successful connection. If not successful, please check the software installation and settings.


3. Open Process Management → Process List, select the process requiring label printing, configure the label printing flow, and save.


4. Open Process Management → Station List, select the station configured for label printing, and configure the label printing interaction variables.


5. "Product ID" and "Product Identification Code" in variables are used to find the corresponding product model in production. Please choose one according to the actual situation:

• Product ID: When the marking station is not the first station, the inbound can provide a product ID with processing records. In this case, configure the Product ID variable, which can be consistent with the inbound barcode.
• Product Identification Code: Used when the marking station is the first station or the equipment cannot provide a Product ID. Fill in when creating a product; the variable content must be consistent with the product identification code of the current production to print successfully.


6. Product Management: Create new Product Name, Product Model, Product Identification Code.


7. Formula Management: Create a new formula and define the process route.


8. Label Management: Create a new label, fill in the Label Name, select the corresponding Product and Printing Station, select the Printer and Template, set the Number of Prints, configure the data mapping relationship, and save.

• Dynamic Field: Corresponds to the named data source in the template, names must be consistent.
• Data Type: Variable, Generation Rule, or Field, select as needed.
• Data Source: Set the source according to the data type.

 

2.3 Label Printing Test

9. Enter Variable Management and observe signal status. During simulation testing, you can manually trigger the print signal and check the print result.


10. Check the printer output label. When selecting PDF file printing, check the output file in the corresponding path to confirm if the content is correct.
